Arthur Edmund Grimshaw (1868–1913) was an artist, composer, organist and conductor. He was born in Leeds, was the master of the choir at Leeds Cathedral and was a conductor of the Leeds Symphony Orchestra.〔Wright, Christopher et al, (''British and Irish Paintings in Public Collections: An Index of British and Irish Oil Paintings by Artists Born Before 1870 in Public and Institutional Collections in the United Kingdom and Ireland'' ) (Yale University Press, 2006), p. 381.〕 ==Family== He was the son of John Atkinson Grimshaw (1836–1893) a painter from Leeds. John Atkinson Grimshaw had several children and he chose to name them all after fictional characters in the Idylls of the King by Alfred, Lord Tennyson.〔(Arthur Edmund Grimshaw ) from Arcadja Auctions, retrieved 20 May 2014〕 As well as Grimshaw some of them also became painters such as Louis H.
